Southwest Georgia Public Health Wish List
Southwest Georgia has many healthcare needs, more than any one resource can address. By donating to Friends of Southwest Georgia Public Health, Inc., individuals, businesses, governments, schools, faith-based organizations and other entities can help improve lives burdened by disease, limited access to healthcare and lack of education. The list below, developed by practitioners in Public Health’s front lines, are specific items that could make a measurable difference in the wellbeing of Southwest Georgia. Your generous contributions are needed for:
- Educational materials and resources for health promotions and education
- Funding to pay for physician referrals for children and adults
- Establishing a men’s health program
- Back up generator for refrigerators storing vaccine
- Video conferencing equipment in all 14 health departments to bring training home
- More nurses, environmental health specialists, interpreters, nutritionists and other vital members of the Public Health staff
- Funding for follow-up diagnostic services
- Equipment and uniforms for public health first responders
- Healthcare-related software, clinical instruments and clerical aids
- Start-up funds for brochures and health fair displays
- Purchase HPV vaccine for young women who have started the three vaccination series but who are ineligible to complete the series due to changes in age requirements secondary to budget cuts
- Purchase of prenatal supplements i.e. fish oil, calcium and prenatal vitamins.
