No Child Left Behind legislation has required teachers in core areas to become “Highly Qualified”. Darton College offers courses for Special Education (elementary, middle and high school) and Middle Grade Math and Science teachers. The application and registration procedures are online and simplified. For qualified teachers the HOPE scholarship will pay the tuition and fees.

The special education course offerings include one mathematics course and one science course. Click here for further information.

The middle grades courses will not only assist teachers in becoming highly qualified. In addition, since the Georgia middle grades mathematics and science curriculum has changed, these courses may be helpful for teachers teaching algebra or physical science for the first time. The mathematics course in Algebra and the science course in Life Science may be of particular interest. These courses will also assist teachers in meeting their teacher recertification every five years. Click here for more information. These courses will assist middle grade teachers in:

  • Becoming highly qualified
  • Learning appropriate content based on state reorganization of mathematics and science curriculum
  • Meeting course work for recertification requirements
